Lydia Winston Malbin, Kahn’s oldest daughter, built one of the world’s foremost collections of Italian Futurism.. from Detroit. She broke from the collecting habits of her father, Albert Kahn to forge her own innovative path. This talk by her granddaughter will delve into the story of how LWM did this with her husband Harry Winston and the friendships with artists and museum greats that were formed along the way. Along with her formidable collecting, LWM maintained copious files of documentation on each work in the collection. Her archives are now housed at the Beinecke Library at Yale University and provide a rich trove of information on how modern art was introduced to the US from Europe after the WW2.
