A recent report in construction trade publication Commercial Daily News took a closer look at Packard Park, a $50 million redevelopment project led by Packard Development Partners LLC.
This transformative project will breathe new life into the historic campus, blending a massive new industrial facility with the sensitive rehab of the original building designed by Albert Kahn.
Foundation board member, architectural historian and author Michael Smith is a leading voice on the project’s significance. Cited in the Commercial Daily News coverage, Smith notes that the prospects for success are “excellent,” highlighting the proven track record of the developers.
“This building will have the appearance of being occupied both in the daytime and the nighttime that I think will be a big positive for the city,” Smith says. “It harkens back to a very important era of the city’s and country’s history.”
We are proud to see Albert Kahn’s structural innovations serve as the foundation for Detroit’s continued resurgence.
