Now retired and living in his native Australia, Terry Smith was the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Contemporary Art History and Theory in the Department of the History of Art and Architecture at the University of Pittsburgh.
Among his numerous publications and academic honors, Smith is the author of the book Making the Modern: Industry, Art and Design in America (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1993), which was one of the first works to credit Albert Kahn as a seminal influence on modern architecture. |
