Albert Kahn and the Making of Detroit

Albert Kahn made Modern Detroit happen. His understanding of materials and design made it possible to re-imagine the American factory, unleashing a new age in American manufacturing. Along with his firm, Albert Kahn Associates, he helped to create the complex aesthetic of Detroit at the beginning of the 20th century.

Karen Miller is an Associate Professor of History at Oakland University. She is currently working on a history of Detroit during World War II.
