The Albert Kahn Legacy Foundation is pleased to share encouraging news from Boulder City, Nevada, where a remarkable example of Albert Kahn’s military aviation work is now under formal consideration for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. This is according to a report published in the Boulder City Review.

The Boulder City Navy Hangar is a 93‑year‑old structure which was designed during a pivotal moment in American military expansion. It embodies the standardized, modular architectural approach that Kahn and his firm developed for mass‑producible military facilities across the country.

This nomination, recently approved by the Nevada State Board of Museums and History and now under review by the National Park Service, reflects years of dedicated advocacy by the Boulder City Historic Preservation Commission. Their leadership and commitment to safeguarding the city’s heritage are bringing attention and recognition to a structure that played a meaningful role in early aviation history and the World War II era.

The Foundation applauds Boulder City’s long‑term vision to preserve the hangar for posterity. Its architectural lineage, military associations and contribution to Boulder City’s designation as a World War II Heritage City make it an invaluable historic resource.
