The Albert Kahn Sonata
The Albert Kahn Sonata is a collaborative multimedia project led by composer Dr. Michael Kropf, along with media producer John Mark Hanson, and pianist Dr. Forrest Howell. Inspired by the architectural legacy of Albert Kahn, the project aims to pay homage to Kahn’s designs and Detroit’s architectural heritage through a 15-minute solo piano composition, each movement dedicated to a significant Kahn-designed building. This musical piece will be complemented by multimedia elements, including video footage showcasing the architectural beauty and history of these structures. The work will be premiered as a live piano performance with video in the iconic lobby of Kahn’s Fisher Building in Detroit.
