Artifact: Letter Opener

Auction Expired

Artifact: Letter opener found inside the Fisher Building. Between 1978 and 1983, Stanley Meretsky had an office on the 25th floor of the Fisher Building. This floor was one of the original Fisher Brother’s floors. At the time, there was one office still in the original state with a silver chandelier and inch thick paneling on the walls that opened for storage cabinets. And there was one panel that opened and inside was what could be called a bar with a sink. One day some construction work was being done and a wall was opened and in it Stanley found this letter opener. You can see from the metal work on the handle that it matches a lot of the metal work throughout the building. It is believed that this was created as a gift for visitors when the building was first opened.
